With the continuous growth in tourism industry as travel is major part of this industry so way of traveling is matter a lot for adventurous and comfortable journey. And for fulfilling the needs of tourism industry cruises are becoming the major part of tourism industry by past few years with a million of passengers each year.
The industry's rapid growth has seen nine or more newly built ships catering to those area where growth is high like in North America, as well as others servicing European clientele. Smaller markets such as the Asia-Pacific region are generally serviced by older tonnage displaced by new ships introduced into the high growth areas.
Cruise ships operate mostly on routes that return passengers to their originating port. In contrast, ocean liners do "line voyages" and typically transport passengers from one point to another, rather than on round trips. Some liners also engage in longer trips which may not lead back to the same port for many months. Traditionally, an ocean liner will be built to a higher standard than a cruise ship, including stronger plating to withstand ocean voyages, most commonly crossing the North Atlantic.
Travelers like to travel by cruises no matter how long the journey will be and how much time it will take but the experience during traveling in cruises are spectacular. During that long journey travelers introduced to ocean environment which is different and memorable experience for everyone.
While traveling in cruises the journey is fantastic but it also has some drawbacks because during cruise journey some time travelers face some problems related to health like infections and most common infection are due to attack of Norovirus and Legionella. Norovirus infections continue to be a problem on cruise ships. In 2002, there were 25 reported outbreaks, with 2,648 passengers becoming ill from the virus. Other pathogens which are known to be a problem on board cruise ships include Legionella, the bacteria which causes Legionnaires' disease.
Even cruise ships left a huge impact on environment no matter the impact is negative. The large amount of generated wastes by cruises affect a lot environment because of it air and water is polluted and its also a source of noise pollution. These waste streams if not properly treated, can be a significant source of pathogens, nutrients, and toxic substances with the potential to threaten human health and damage aquatic life.
